The Gospel at Home

Reading the Gospel at Home – What is it exactly?

It is an invitation that we make to the spiritual world to come into our home, bringing us harmony, well-being, protection, relief, clarity of thought, and the ability to find solutions. It helps us to raise the vibration of our home to a higher level. We can read the Gospel with our family or with a group of friends or by ourselves. However, we must remember that it is serious task.

It is important to emphasize that reading the Gospel at home is not a mediumship work or a treatment for obsession, as our homes are not a place that has been prepared for any sort of manifestation.  Think of it more as a cleansing or a time of study and meditation.

How does it work?

Everything that we need to know will come through our thoughts or through the words from Kardec’s book, The Gospel According to Spiritism:

What are the steps?

1) Establish a day and time in the week for reading the Gospel and keep the appointment - as our friends from the spirit side also have their own commitments apart from helping us in our houses.

2) Choose a clean and comfortable place.

3) If you wish, place a water pitcher or a glass of water may be set out, so if necessary, the spirits may magnetize the water.

4) If you wish, you can make use of some subtle instrumental music in order to make the environment more harmonious and calmer.

5) Prepare yourself prior to the reading by reflecting and having some good thoughts.

6) You can read the book in sequence or open it at random.

7) If you are in a group during the reading, you may want to start a brief discussion in order to have some deeper interpretations about the text. If you are alone, try to understand what was learned from the text.

8) You may wish to close with a prayer.

9) The reading should only last about thirty minutes, so we do not intrude too much on the activities of the spirits, and our mind doesn't wander into complaining or lamenting unnecessarily.
